He was inspired by "Manga Nyuumon", an introductory book to become a manga artist by Ishinomori Shotaro. After graduating from high school, he became Ishinomori's assistant alongside Nagai Go and Oyamada Tsutomu. He also was assistant under Hisamatsu Fumio and Asano Riji.
